My daughter bought this book - and I was delighted to read such a well-written introduction to this rite of passage for young girls!
Language is easy for all ages to comprehend and very engaging. How I wish I'd had this book (and conversation) with my mom so many years ago!
Delightful book - a great conversation starter!!

This a perfect book to help young girls who are going through or about to start their menstrual cycle. I bought it for my niece since she is getting to that age and she loved the story on its own and it answered all of her questions about a young woman’s period in a fun, relatable way. I would highly recommend this book!

Skkyz of Wynter is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to making a difference in the lives of our homeless population during the harsh winter months. Understanding that cold nights can pose significant challenges for individuals without stable housing, we provide cozy, warm blankets to ensure that they have some comfort during the frigid temperatures as well as sweaters for their loyal furry companions. Our mission extends beyond just warmth; we also strive to support young girls facing hardships. Inspired by the themes and stories in our books, "The Day I Saw Red" and "Chest Disease," we recognize the importance of dignity and self-care in challenging circumstances. Thus, we distribute feminine products and training bras to young girls who are homeless or from low-income families, fostering a sense of normalcy and empowerment during difficult times. Through these efforts, Skkyz of Wynter not only addresses immediate physical needs but also contributes to a broader conversation about compassion, resilience, and the importance of community support.

Wynterskyyz LLC, a family-owned business founded by Tiffany Glass and her two daughters, Wynter (13) and Skyler (11), is making waves in the literary world with their insightful books aimed at addressing the often taboo topics of puberty and body changes. Their debut book, "The Day I Saw Red," tackles the subject of menstruation from the perspective of a young girl navigating the challenges of experiencing her first period earlier than her peers. This relatable narrative serves as a crucial conversation starter for parents and guardians, encouraging them to discuss these important life changes openly with their children. In a similar vein, "Chest Disease" chronicles Skyler's journey through the changes that accompany breast development, shedding light on the emotional and physical aspects of growing up.
Beyond their literary contributions, Wynterskyyz has established Skkyz of Wynter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young girls in need. A portion of the proceeds from their books is directed toward providing essential supplies—such as feminine hygiene products and bras—to low-income or homeless girls. Additionally, during the winter months, they extend their mission to assist the homeless community by distributing cozy blankets and crafting pet sweaters for the furry companions of those in need. Through Wynterskyyz LLC and Skkyz of Wynter, Tiffany and her daughters are not only opening critical dialogues around adolescence but also making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable populations, fostering a sense of empowerment and compassion within their community.
